For visitors

Free and open to non-members. The short group has a backup vehicle and coffee after. The intermediate group needs charged lights, tubes and spares; its start and route are posted in the PPA Social Rides WhatsApp group each week. The social group asks for riders who could finish the Cape Town Cycle Tour in under six hours.

First time on this ride? Here’s the drill
Bring
a helmet, front and rear lights (it's a dark-hours ride), water, a spare tube or patch kit, a way to pay for the stop.
Arrive
Ten or fifteen minutes before 6:30 am. Tell whoever's leading that you're new.
Pace
Expect 20–22 km/h on average: relaxed, with time to talk. It's no-drop: if you fall off the back, someone waits. That's the point of a group ride.

About the PPA Weekly Social Rides group ride

PPA Weekly Social Rides is a road group ride in Cape Town, South Africa. It rolls every Saturday at 6:30 am local time from 9 Hill Park Lane, Mowbray.

Pedal Power Association's free Saturday rides out of Mowbray. The short group rides 32–36 km at a pace the ride captain sets, with a backup vehicle and coffee after; PPA pitches it at newcomers building confidence on the road. Stronger riders can join the 70 km intermediate group or the longer social group.
