The Pledge

A year built on showing up.

2027 is the year I'm getting honest with my body — and inviting the people who care about me to come along.

The pledge is simple. Bike, run, and swim a combined 7,500 miles in one calendar year. Cycling carries the load. Running and swimming bring balance and the kind of training that pushes me to grow in ways the bike alone can't reach. Every mile is logged here, in the open. Every week, I'll write about what's working, what's hurting, and what I'm learning.

Friends, family, and supporters can pledge a dollar amount per mile. $1, $5, $10 — whatever moves them. As the miles add up, the donation total grows with them.

At the end of the year — and quarterly along the way — every dollar raised goes to a queer-serving cause that deserves the work. The 2027 beneficiary is being chosen with care, and will be announced on January 1, 2027. No vague promises. No percentages of profits. A named cause. Receipts published. Always.

How it works

The pledge. Simple as that.

01
The Pledge
7,500 miles in 2027 — bike, run, and swim combined. Public commitment. On this site, in writing, for everyone to see.
02
Donors Commit
Supporters pledge a dollar amount per mile completed — $1, $5, $10, whatever moves them. The total grows with every new donor.
03
Miles Are Logged
Every ride, run, and swim is tracked publicly throughout 2027. Weekly recap on the journal. Strava feeds it all. The miles accumulate.
04
The Cause Gets Paid
Quarterly, funds go directly to the 2027 beneficiary. The cause is announced January 1, 2027. Names published. Always.
The goals

Three disciplines. One year of growth.

Lead Discipline
5,500mi
The Bike
The lead story. Long base miles, climbing blocks, and back-to-back weekends. The discipline I know best — and the one carrying the bulk of the pledge.
Building Base
1,500mi
The Run
Slow miles. Honest miles. Building the cardiovascular base that makes everything else easier.
Cross-Training
500mi
The Swim
The hardest discipline for me. Recovery, range of motion, full-body conditioning, and the patience to learn something new in public.
+ Training all three for a 2027 triathlon.
