For visitors

This is a closed road, not a led ride. The city page lists no sign-up. Vehicles must turn into the Activity Complex and park there. City staff, tower workers and emergency vehicles may be on the road at any time. Park and entrance hours are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m.

a helmet, front and rear lights (it's a dark-hours ride), water, a spare tube or patch kit, a way to pay for the stop.
Arrive
Ten or fifteen minutes before 5:00 am. Tell whoever's leading that you're new.

About the Silent Sunday at South Mountain group ride

Silent Sunday at South Mountain is an open-streets program in Phoenix, AZ: streets closed to cars and open to bikes. It runs every Sunday from 5:00 am.

South Mountain's main road, Summit Road, closes to cars on Sundays and is reserved for walking, cycling, jogging and hiking. On the 4th Sunday of the month the closure lasts all day, 5 am to 7 pm. On the other Sundays it runs 5 am to 10 am and stops at the 1.0 mile marker. Riders and walkers share the road.
