For visitors
Bring a repair kit, water and food. An approved helmet is required and fixed-gear bikes are not allowed. Riders must be 18 or ride with a parent or guardian. Some dates are replaced: there was no ride on July 25, and Sept 26 was a 45-mile Turnbull Canyon out-and-back with a 7:00 meet and 7:30 roll. Bike Long Beach's calendar lists an 8:00 meet and an 8:15 to 8:30 roll; the group's own posts say 7:30 and 8:00.
First time on this ride? Here’s the drill
- Bring
- a helmet, water, a spare tube or patch kit, a way to pay for the stop.
- Arrive
- Ten or fifteen minutes before the meet time. Tell whoever's leading that you're new.
- Pace
- The easiest pace the host lists is 16 mph: steady — you'll breathe hard on the hills. It's no-drop: if you fall off the back, someone waits. That's the point of a group ride.
