- a helmet, front and rear lights (it's a dark-hours ride), water, a spare tube or patch kit, a way to pay for the stop.
- Arrive
- Ten or fifteen minutes before the meet time. Tell whoever's leading that you're new.
- Pace
- Social, 10–15 miles. It's no-drop: if you fall off the back, someone waits. That's the point of a group ride.

About the Queer Ride group ride
Queer Ride is a social group ride in Austin, TX. It rolls every Wednesday at 7:30 pm from South gate, Texas State Capitol.
A weekly, inclusive, no-drop social ride for LGBTQIA+ folks and allies, started in Austin in 2011. Everyone meets at the south gate of the Capitol on Wednesday evening and rolls 10 to 15 miles together.
