Center Ride Out: LA to San Diego
Three days, roughly 285 miles down the Southern California coast, benefiting the Los Angeles LGBT Center — one of the two rides that carry the AIDS/LifeCycle legacy.
Center Ride Out is the Los Angeles LGBT Center's answer to the end of AIDS/LifeCycle: a three-day supported ride from LA to San Diego, first held in 2026. The Center is one of the largest LGBTQ+ organizations in the world — the ride funds its health, housing, and advocacy programs.
The ride
Expect coastal miles — beach paths out of LA, the Palos Verdes and Orange County coast, the long run through Camp Pendleton toward San Diego. Around 285 miles total, split across three days, with rest stops, mechanical support, and gear transport handled by the event.
Is it for you?
If you can ride 60 comfortable miles in a day, you can train up to this. Three-day rides are the friendliest format in charity cycling: long enough to feel epic, short enough that you don't need a sabbatical. Start with the first-timer's guide and give yourself twelve weeks.
I'm riding it in 2027 — those miles land on the tally like everything else. Registration and dates live at the Center's site; fundraising minimums are typical for multi-day rides, and here's how to hit yours.
I do the miles. You decide who they’re for.
In 2027 I ride 10,000 miles, all on the bike, every one of them for queer communities. You pledge a few cents a mile and pick which org it goes to. It starts January 1.
